Tour Stop: Sweet Thing by Renee Carlino Review, Interview, & Giveaway

Mia Kelly is a twenty-five-year-old walking Gap ad who thinks she has life figured out when her father’s sudden death uproots her from slow-paced Ann Arbor to New York City’s bustling East Village. There she discovers her father’s spirit for life and the legacy he left behind with the help of an old café, a few eccentric friends, and one charming musician.

Will Ryan is good-looking, poetic, spontaneous, and on the brink of fame when he meets Mia, his new landlord, muse, and personal heartbreaker.

A story of self-discovery and friendship, Sweet Thing shines light on the power of loving and letting go.

*****Oh Fuck Yeah (4 stars)****

If you know me then you know I really get into my books.  Maybe a little too much but I see that as a good thing. If an author can pull me in and have me pissed off then they did their job. Well Renee you did your job!

Mia Kelly moves to NYC after her father's death and meets Will. They meet for a short time and then make their separate ways.  Luckily Will needs a place to stay and Mia has a room for rent. Unfortunately Mia is stubborn (like me) and refuse to give into her feeling towards Will.

Let me take a moment here and.....

Mia! What the FUCK!!! I get it girl, love is scary and there are insecurities but it's WILL!!!  So many times I was screaming at Mia to just let go. Mia pissed me off a few times but the person she became at the end had me happy for her

And Will I freaking LOVE you!!

“You needed to figure things out on your own. I was just waiting for you to come around.”

That line right that melted my heart. In those two sentences he stole me heart. He understands Mia. He gets her! OMG! I don't know what it is about those two sentences but I just....

In the end the story had a purpose. Love and life is very hard. It's not all sunshine and rainbows and Renee Carlino did an awesome job of telling us that story.  Also THANK YOU for no crazy cliffhangers and for a HEA. I recommend this book to everyone!

15 semi awkward questions with Renee Carlino

Your top five smutty words that are instant mood killers?
Penis and Vagina – obviously there are better ways to say this.  Yet, I don’t like it when female characters use the word pussy and I hate the word juices and cream or creamy.  You will never see those words in a scene I write, I promise!
~OH THANK YOU!! I can not stand the word cream!

Ever use toys in bed?
Who me?  Well there is a bit of research involved when writing romance novels.
~of course, for "research" ;)

Star Wars or Star Trek?
Both, I’m a dork.

Orgasm every five minutes or never again?
Hmm.  Probably never again, I have kids and that could make life very strange for them.

We’ve all had dates from hell tell us about yours?
I used to have this pepper spray key chain for safety.  I was on a date and fidgeting with it in the car on the way to dinner.  It went off, spraying all over me.  We skipped dinner and went to urgent care.  It was very embarrassing.  After the initial concern, the guy I was on date with could not stop laughing at what an idiot I was. P.S. You do not ever want to be doused in pepper spray, it’s horrible!
~I think that is the best worst date story I've ever heard!!

Sex in the morning, afternoon, or night?
D) All of the above
Although I think lazy morning sex is underrated.
~Oh no, you're one of those happy morning people huh.

Favorite book and author?
I have always loved John Irving, one of my favorites from him is “The Fourth Hand”
But, I will say I am huge Diana Gabaldon fan too and LOVE the OUTLANDER series.

Ever gone out without any panties on?
Duh, haven’t we all?
~**raises hand**

What is your biggest pet peeve?
Slow or close talkers.

Favorite guilty pleasure?
Chocolate and wine.
~We should hang out.  Please bring the chocolate and wine. :D

If you could have one super power for a day what would it be?
Moving objects with my mind.

 Favorite movie quote?
Just about every line Jerry Maguire, but here are a few. . .

“Jump in my nightmare, the water's warm!”
“That's more than a dress. That's an Audrey Hepburn movie.”
“Have you ever gotten the feeling that you aren't completely embarrassed yet, but you glimpse tomorrow's embarrassment?”
“We live in a cynical world. A cynical world. And we work in a business of tough competitors. I love you. You... complete me.”
                                   -Jerry Maguire

Tell us something no one knows about you?
Umm, I think I’m an open book ;)

What are you reading right now?
Just started “The Opportunist” by Tarryn Fisher
~MY FAVORITE!! Hope you love this series as much as I do!!

Anything you would like to add?
Thank you so much, this has been a blast!!

Renee’s first friends were the imaginary kind and even though her characters haven’t gone away, thankfully the delusions have. She admits she’s a wildly hopeless romantic and she blames 80’s movies staring Molly Ringwald for that. She lives in Southern California with her husband, two sons, and their sweet dog June. When she’s not at the beach with her boys or working on the next book, she likes to spend her time reading, going to concerts, and eating dark chocolate.
